Genesis Group is a multi-stake activity group of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Our mission is to bring members and friends together as “fellow citizens with the Saints.” We are dedicated to supporting Black Latter-day Saints, their families, and their friends as we build faith in Jesus Christ and strengthen our membership in His restored Church. We are dedicated to searching after and rescuing "the one" while ministering faithfully to all. Whether you are a long-time member or just discovering our community, there is a place for you here.
A Unified Effort Across the Utah Area
Genesis Group serves as a vital bridge, bringing together members and leaders to improve our local wards, stakes and communities. We work in close collaboration with:
- The Utah Area Presidency and Area Seventies.
- Local Stake Presidencies and Bishoprics.
Our collaborative goal is to ensure that every ward and stake is an inviting and uplifting community where all members feel valued for their culture, ethnicity, and race.
Achieving Our Purpose
We have a prophetic purpose: to encourage and support Black Latter-day Saints, their families, and their friends. The Utah Area vision of "gathering Israel one by one in Christ" furthers our focus to help search after and rescue the one while ministering faithfully to the ninety-nine. We accomplish this through the following three pillars:
Pillar 1: Build and Strengthen the Individual
Improving the lives of Genesis Group members through uplifting and educational activities, and ministering.
Pillar 2: Build and Strengthen the Genesis Group
Creating an environment where Black members feel supported, strengthened, create friendships, and can be themselves.
Pillar 3: Improve and Strengthen Our Wards, Stakes, and Communities
Creating an inviting and uplifting community where Black members feel spiritually, emotionally, mentally, socially, and physically safe.
